Australia

Back in '88 I had the opportunity to visit Australia. I stayed in Newcastle over the Christmas holiday with the Smith family. For some reason, after I left, I never contacted them again and they never contacted me.

Recently, I've had this recurring dream that I return to Australia all these many years later to check up on them. In these dreams many things have changed, but the basic story line is that I return to Newcastle and visit the Smiths.

Last night I had one of these...

Looks Like We're Returning to Our Old Church

As it turns out, it looks like churches are like jobs--there's really no such thing as a church you can love. They all have major problems--big ones.

One problem with churches is that they are so embroiled with politics and petty dogma. I'd like to see churches that aren't like this. However, I've never seen one, so we are figuring we'd might as well go to one that has the right politics and close to the right dogma.

Also, there are always a few rotten apples in any church....

Attended a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church

We attended a C&MA church yesterday, and I think this may be it. It's too early to tell, but we are planning on attending next year.

The first person we met was the worship leader, and he was really nice. The worship was dynamic and we sang one of my favorite songs: "Mighty to Save".

Then there was a missions focus where we actually spoke with a missionary in Mongolia via the internet. He was sitting right there in his kitchen. People asked him questions...

Two Weeks Away From CF and.....

I can't say I've really missed much. There have been a few things and maybe a couple of people I've thought of, but, other than that, spending a lot less time here has been a net gain.

I spent some time reading Dark Night of the Soul by St. John of the Cross--as well as some other material. I also spent more time with the computer OFF.

In a few hours, we'll be taking off on vacation to visit relatives in Kentucky. This is not what I really wanted to do, but my Dad's getting...
