Trouble arises even when we spend every waking hour trying to avoid it. As for trouble at work, I'm in it as of yesterday, so today I have "enquired of the Lord" and I am ready to do battle in the Spirit of Christ.

I went for my usual three-mile run along a path paralleling the dry river bed. One doesn't have to look very hard to find God present in the vegetation and His little creatures. Today's run started like my other running days, but ended with the out-pouring of His spirit.

A Christian Hymn was playing through the headphone of my Walkman as I strived to be in Christ. The Chorus line, "The ground on which we stand is holy for the Lord is there" brought His spirit alive, and brought more life to my surroundings as I ran. When the hymn ended, I switched to Christian radio and listened to a woman tell her story. Every word of her story was in praise of the Lord. Tears of joy mounted up and I was at that moment completely alive unto Spirit.

As I came upon a bridge, my gaze moved upward and fell upon a dead tree about 15 feet directly in front of me. A hummingbird lit upon the tip of the highest branch, sparking more emotion within because the bridge, the dead tree, the bird, the hymn, the woman's story in praise, the timing of the events were all so symbolic and had a holy message. My breathing became labored and I had to stop to catch my breath and quiet those spiritual emotions. As I stood in awe of that Hummingbird, I remembered the verse "the joy of the Lord is your strength." What came next was a long breath of praise.

Trouble at work is no trouble for this Christian. The joy of the Lord is, indeed, my strength. I will sing praises for the rest of this blessed day.
