An interesting hobbie...

Posted 4th August 2008 at 02:44 AM by hudsonja
I like walks. I particularly enjoy walking between the hours of 1am and 5am. I like to walk through a nice quiet neighborhood, down the middle of the street, and just enjoy the fresh air, and the silence. I sometimes try to sort out the day, or a current issue in my life…or even pray, but more often then not, I find that my mind really just empties out while I walk. It’s almost a relief not to have all the noise that is normally in my head…(and by noise, I’m not referring to creepy voices)....

A New CF Chaplain

Posted 6th February 2010 at 02:58 AM by AMR
Yesterday I competed all my training to become a CF Chaplain. CF Chaplains provide responses to items posted in the Ask a Chaplain forum.

This appointment was a nice birthday present for me this week.

The moderator aspect of this training was very thorough, thanks to the efforts of CF member suzybeezy. The training required me to spend between 15-20 hours of personal time becoming familiar with the moderator tools, the CF rules, and to completing a very comprehensive...

Calvinism - Learning More

Posted 16th February 2010 at 02:20 AM by AMR
Anyone with even a casual participation in some of the CF forums, will readily see how many folks have a less than informed view of Calvinism. A great deal of posts related to the doctrines of grace are spent correcting these misunderstandings.

For anyone wanting to know more about Reformed theology I recommend the following three inexpensive books by R.C. Sproul, who has a distinctive way of explaining complex topics in easily understood style:

1. What is Reformed Theology?...

Begging the Question in Dialog

Posted 19th February 2010 at 03:31 AM by AMR
How many times have we encountered the response or rejoinder that in our discussions we are begging the question?

Yet, I maintain that there is no defect of reasoning called "begging the question" aside from a certain prohibited move in the academic game of elenchus.

"A, therefore A" is deductively valid.

Another interesting one..

God has all the virtues.
Therefore, God is benevolent.

Clearly,...

Calvinism: What are The Five Points

Posted 26th April 2010 at 01:41 PM by AMR
Updated 26th April 2010 at 01:57 PM by AMR
Calvinism is a system of beliefs based upon Scriptural interpretation of the doctrines of grace. The Canons of Dordt is where the Calvinistic acrostic, TULIP was first articulated, many years after the death of John Calvin, one of the great theologians of the past who systematized Reformed doctrines.

That which is called "Calvinism" is usually assumed to be simply belief in the five points articulated by the Canons of Dordt. It is much more than this, but the TULIP acrostic...
