A Jealous God

Posted 18th March 2010 at 04:38 AM by AMR
A question was asked of me:

Quote:
Of all God's attributes, jealousy is the one I've never thought made sense for him to have. Is God insecure?
Yes, God is jealous for His glory and worship. They rightfully belongs to Him. Too often human jealously or envy involves our wanting of something we have no right to have. When a man flirts with my wife, I am right to be jealous and this type of jealously is not a sin, but appropriate, because I am jealous (zealously vigilant) for...

God's Analogical Revelation of Himself

Posted 22nd March 2010 at 02:02 PM by AMR
In what way is God's personality an archetype of our own?

We possess attributes, albeit imperfect, that are also possessed of God, for man was created in the image of God. Hence we can come to understand something of the personal life of God through the contemplation of personality as we know it in man.

Quote:
Is God's personality not beyond our understanding?

The Law of God

Posted 23rd March 2010 at 06:24 PM by AMR
The issue of the law versus grace can be confusing.

(3) to act as a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ.

Paul tells us that the law is holy, and the commandment is holy...

Money and the Bible

Posted 25th March 2010 at 03:14 AM by AMR
What exactly does the Bible teach about money?

1. Our first priority is Christ and His Kingdom. Matt 6:33

2. What we have has been given to us by Christ, and should be used wisely. Deut 8:18; 1 Chronicles 29:11-12; James 1:17

3. God provides wealth. James 4:13-16

4. Money is to be gained through honest labor. Prov 6:6-11; 21:5; 28:19

5. Those who are not willing to work should not be given money, because doing so is only...

Nicodemus and Re-birth

Faith and Works:

To believe one possesses some volitional will to assent to the truth despite the clear teachings of the Scriptures, is to assume one can believe without any initiative by God, that is, one is doing a work to save oneself.

But the Scriptures are clear, in that the unsaved…

- is deceitful and desperately sick (Jer. 17:9);
- is full of evil (Mark 7:21-23);
- loves darkness rather than light (John 3:19);
- is unrighteous,...
