High standards. You shouldn't hold your friends in such high regard that they have nowhere to go but down. You can't expect them to do everything that you think they should. The point of friendship is loving someone for who they really are.

My pastor says something like this: "God cannot be disappointed in you, ever, because He knows everything you're ever going to do." You can't surprise God, but us humans, yeah, we can definitely surprise each other.
