The agreement had provisions for inspections and verifying they were abiding by the terms, and incentives for doing so. You can argue about how hard it was to really enforce those provisions, but they were something and according to the inspectors, Iran was abiding by the rules.

Now we have nothing. No agreement, no inspections, and Iran able to enrich as much as they want. What was stupid was Trump thinking he could improve on the situation with zero planning and zero ability to follow through on anything. What was stupid was his fan base’s fawning over his bloviating and temper tantrums, thinking that amounted to intelligent policy.
